This is a homework activity that designed to help students understand how a discharge lamp works and how energy is transferred in each process involved in a discharge lamps. It was developed to be used in a modern physics class, after lecture instruction on atomic transitions and discharge lamps. This activity was used in a course where questions were constrained to being multiple choice or numeric for computer grading, so it is not as inquiry based. |
