Title | The Blind Girl | ||||||||||||||||||||
Description |
English: This painting depicts a red-haired, rosy-cheeked girl of perhaps 16 years sitting on a tuft in a large meadow, facing us with eyes closed. She is wearing a heavy, torn working skirt and a shawl over her head, and a hand accordion sits in her lap. Her younger blonde sister sits leaning back against her on her left, holding her hand and gazing off to her left – perhaps at some birds on the ground nearby. She is also wearing rough and torn work clothes. A small stream runs immediately in back of the girls, and behind that the yellow meadow stretches back a distance, then up a hill. Various buildings and some trees dot the skyline of the hill. A double rainbow reaches down from the darkish sky to the centre of the skyline. In addition to the birds, there are a few farm animals grazing in the meadow – possibly horses, cattle, and sheep.

Русский: Радуга – одно из красивейших явлений природы, которая слепая девочка так и не сможет увидеть – использована, чтобы подчеркнуть всю тяжесть положения девочки.
