Summary

Experimental fiber, drawn (by Valerii Temyanko at the Optical Science Centre, University of Arizona)
from a D-shaped preform to confirm the hypothesis about chaoticity of D-shaped fibers.
Such fibers have application for double-clad fibre lasers.
The red numbers indicate size in micrometers. The Initial preform had sharp edges; they become smooth due to the surface tension at the hot drawing.
The picture was taken by scanning microscope at Neurobiology department with help of Irina Sinakevitch. This pic does not have anymore a commercial secret, so, I release it to the public domain.
