File:Pacman-puckman.jpg
Summary
I created this image a long time ago from 2 cabinets I own to illustrate the difference between the artwork of a Midway Pacman and a Namco Puckman cabinet. You can also see it on my Flickr album here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/puckman/2332280/
Non-free use rationale
Usage of this non-free file on Wikipedia in the article Pac-Man follows WP:NFCC for the following reasons:
- The image is low-resolution and displays the artwork obliquely, so copies thereof will be inferior to the original artwork and therefore will not substitute for the original artwork in any conceivable market.
- The pieces of artwork are each a part of a cabinet that was made available to the public in arcades. Although this probably does not constitute publication under US copyright law, it should be sufficient for the previous publication requirement under WP:NFCC.
- The image shows the differences in the cabinet artwork of Japan's Puck Man and the United States's Pac-Man. These differences are the subject of sourced commentary in Pac-Man, and removal of these images would significantly hinder the reader's understanding of this aspect of the game and attendant artwork.
- Any replacement image would also have to show the copyrighted artwork and therefore could not be freely licensed.
